Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install zynaddsubfx on Ubuntu.

What is `zynaddsubfx`

zynaddsubfx is:

A real-time software synthesizer for Linux and Windows with many features, including polyphony, multi-timbral and microtonal capabilities. It includes randomness of some parameters, which makes warm sounds, like analogue synthesizers. It has system/insertion effects too, and much more.

There are three methods to install zynaddsubfx on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install zynaddsubfx Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install zynaddsubfx using apt-get by running the following command:

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update
