How To Install zydis-tools on Ubuntu

In this tutorial we learn how to install zydis-tools on Ubuntu.

What is zydis-tools

zydis-tools is:

Zydis is a fast x86/x86-64 disassembler library. It supports all x86 and AMD64 instructions and many vendor extensions, doesn’t perform dynamic memory allocations, is thread safe by design and has no third party dependency - not even libc.

This package contains the command line tools.

There are three methods to install zydis-tools on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install zydis-tools Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install zydis-tools using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install zydis-tools

Install zydis-tools Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install zydis-tools using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install zydis-tools

Install zydis-tools Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install zydis-tools using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install zydis-tools

How To Uninstall zydis-tools on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the zydis-tools package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove zydis-tools

Uninstall zydis-tools And Its Dependencies

To uninstall zydis-tools and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove zydis-tools

Remove zydis-tools Configurations and Data

To remove zydis-tools configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge zydis-tools

Remove zydis-tools configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove zydis-tools configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge zydis-tools
