In this tutorial we learn how to install zoom-player on Ubuntu.

What is zoom-player

zoom-player is:

Zoom is a player for Z-Code stories or games. These are usually text adventures (also known as interactive fiction), made popular in the eighties by Infocom with its Zork series of games, and others.

Zoom emulates versions 3 through 8 of the Z-Machine; in particular it supports version 6 games properly (including Arthur, Journey, Shōgun and Zork Zero).

There are three methods to install zoom-player on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install zoom-player Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install zoom-player using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install zoom-player

Install zoom-player Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install zoom-player using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install zoom-player

Install zoom-player Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install zoom-player using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install zoom-player

How To Uninstall zoom-player on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the zoom-player package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove zoom-player

Uninstall zoom-player And Its Dependencies

To uninstall zoom-player and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove zoom-player

Remove zoom-player Configurations and Data

To remove zoom-player configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge zoom-player

Remove zoom-player configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove zoom-player configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge zoom-player
