In this tutorial we learn how to install zinnia-utils on Ubuntu.
What is zinnia-utils
zinnia-utils is:
Zinnia provides a simple, customizable, and portable dynamic OCR system for hand-written input, based on Support Vector Machines.
Zinnia simply receives user pen strokes as coordinate data and outputs the best matching characters sorted by SVM confidence. To maintain portability, it has no rendering functionality. In addition to recognition, Zinnia provides a training module capable of creating highly efficient handwriting recognition models.
This package provide utils for zinnia library.
There are three methods to install zinnia-utils on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install zinnia-utils Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install zinnia-utils using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install zinnia-utils

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install zinnia-utils using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install zinnia-utils using aptitude by running the following command:
