In this tutorial we learn how to install zim
on Ubuntu.
What is zim
zim is:
Zim is a graphical text editor used to maintain a collection of wiki pages.
Each page can contain links to other pages, simple formatting and inline images. Pages are stored in a folder structure, like in an outliner, and can have attachments. Creating a new page is as easy as linking to a nonexistent page.
All data is stored in plain text files with wiki formatting. Various plugins provide additional functionality, like a task list manager, an equation editor, a tray icon, and support for version control.
Zim can be used to:
- Keep an archive of notes
- Take notes during meetings or lectures
- Organize task lists
- Draft blog entries and emails
- Do brainstorming
There are three methods to install zim
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get

and aptitude

Install zim Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get

sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install zim
using apt-get

How To Uninstall zim on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the zim
package we can use the following command:

and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove zim
Remove zim Configurations and Data
To remove zim
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge zim
