on Ubuntu.
What is zeal
zeal is:
Zeal is a simple offline API documentation browser inspired by Dash (OS X app), available for Linux and Windows.
- Quickly search documentation using Alt+Space (or customised) hotkey to display Zeal from any place in your workspace.
- Search in multiple sets of documentation at once.
- Don’t be dependent on your internet connection.
- Integrate Zeal with Emacs, Sublime Text, or Vim.
There are three methods to install zeal
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install zeal Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install zeal
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install zeal
Install zeal Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install zeal
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install zeal
Install zeal Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude

How To Uninstall zeal on Ubuntu
