zathura is a document viewer with a minimalistic and space saving interface. It offers a vim-like experience and has a focus on keyboard interaction. The key bindings, commands and most other settings can be customized.

- printing the whole document or specific pages

- searching in the document
- browsing the document index
- SyncTex forward and backward synchronization
zathura can be extended to support other file formats via a plugin system.
There are three methods to install zathura on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install zathura Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install zathura using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install zathura
Install zathura Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install zathura using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install zathura
Install zathura Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install zathura using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install zathura
How To Uninstall zathura on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the zathura package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove zathura
Uninstall zathura And Its Dependencies
To uninstall zathura and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove zathura
Remove zathura Configurations and Data
To remove zathura configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge zathura
