Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install z-push on Ubuntu.

What is z-push

z-push is:

Z-Push is an implementation of the ActiveSync protocol which is used ‘over-the-air’ for multi platform ActiveSync devices, including Windows Mobile, iPhone, Sony Ericsson and Nokia mobile devices. With Z-Push any groupware can be connected and synced with these devices.

This is a metapackage depending on packages providing the basic syncronisation functionality.

There are three methods to install z-push on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install z-push Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install z-push using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install z-push

Install z-push Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install z-push using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install z-push

Install z-push Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install z-push using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install z-push

How To Uninstall z-push on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the z-push package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove z-push

Uninstall z-push And Its Dependencies

To uninstall z-push and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove z-push

Remove z-push Configurations and Data

To remove z-push configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge z-push

Remove z-push configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove z-push configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge z-push
