In this tutorial we learn how to install z-push-common on Ubuntu.

What is z-push-common

z-push-common is:

Z-Push is an implementation of the ActiveSync protocol which is used ‘over-the-air’ for multi platform ActiveSync devices, including Windows Mobile, iPhone, Sony Ericsson and Nokia mobile devices. With Z-Push any groupware can be connected and synced with these devices.

This package contains the actual Z-Push software used by all the backends.

There are three methods to install z-push-common on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install z-push-common Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install z-push-common using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install z-push-common

Install z-push-common Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install z-push-common using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install z-push-common

Install z-push-common Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install z-push-common using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install z-push-common

How To Uninstall z-push-common on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the z-push-common package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove z-push-common

Uninstall z-push-common And Its Dependencies

To uninstall z-push-common and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove z-push-common

Remove z-push-common Configurations and Data

To remove z-push-common configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge z-push-common

Remove z-push-common configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove z-push-common configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge z-push-common
