What is ypserv
ypserv is:
This package provides the ypserv and other programs, required to implement a NIS service for shared accounts and network names.
NIS, originally known as Yellow Pages (YP), is mostly used to let several machines in a network share the same account information, such as the password file. It is an old, but simple system to share information, which should be used only in relatively trusted networks, due to its intrinsic limitations for security.
There are three methods to install ypserv
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ypserv Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ypserv
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ypserv

After updating apt database, We can install ypserv
