Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install yosys-dev
on Ubuntu.
What is yosys-dev
yosys-dev is:
Yosys is a framework for Verilog RTL synthesis. It currently has extensive Verilog-2005 support and provides a basic set of synthesis algorithms for various application domains.
Yosys can be adapted to perform any synthesis job by combining the existing passes (algorithms) using synthesis scripts and adding additional passes as needed by extending the yosys C++ code base.
This package contains the headers and programs needed to build yosys plugins.
There are three methods to install yosys-dev
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install yosys-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install yosys-dev
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install yosys-dev
Install yosys-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install yosys-dev
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install yosys-dev
Install yosys-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install yosys-dev
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install yosys-dev
How To Uninstall yosys-dev on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the yosys-dev
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove yosys-dev
Uninstall yosys-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall yosys-dev
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove yosys-dev
Remove yosys-dev Configurations and Data
To remove yosys-dev
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge yosys-dev
Remove yosys-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove yosys-dev
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge yosys-dev
