In this tutorial we learn how to install yorick-mpy-openmpi on Ubuntu.
What is yorick-mpy-openmpi
yorick-mpy-openmpi is:
Yorick is an interpreted programming language for:
- scientific simulations or calculations
- postprocessing or steering large simulation codes
- interactive scientific graphics
- reading, writing, and translating large files of numbers
The MPY is a parallel version of Yorick based on the Message Passing Interface (MPI). This package contains a build of MPY linked against OpenMPI.
There are three methods to install yorick-mpy-openmpi on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install yorick-mpy-openmpi Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install yorick-mpy-openmpi using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install yorick-mpy-openmpi
Install yorick-mpy-openmpi Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install yorick-mpy-openmpi using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install yorick-mpy-openmpi
Install yorick-mpy-openmpi Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install yorick-mpy-openmpi using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install yorick-mpy-openmpi
How To Uninstall yorick-mpy-openmpi on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the yorick-mpy-openmpi package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove yorick-mpy-openmpi
Uninstall yorick-mpy-openmpi And Its Dependencies
To uninstall yorick-mpy-openmpi and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove yorick-mpy-openmpi
Remove yorick-mpy-openmpi Configurations and Data
To remove yorick-mpy-openmpi configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge yorick-mpy-openmpi
Remove yorick-mpy-openmpi configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove yorick-mpy-openmpi configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge yorick-mpy-openmpi
