Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install ynew
on Ubuntu.
What is ynew
ynew is:
A rather simple script to open a new tab in yakuake, set the name of the tab, run a script, and close the tab when the script terminates.
For example, to ssh to a server called alfio
, you can run “ynew alfio”.
This will open a new tab in yakuake named alfio which will contain the ssh session.
Script for bash completion is also provided.
It integrates with the launcher trabucco, to create new yakuake tabs from it.
There are three methods to install ynew
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ynew Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ynew
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ynew
Install ynew Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ynew
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ynew
Install ynew Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ynew
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ynew
How To Uninstall ynew on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the ynew
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ynew
Uninstall ynew And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ynew
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ynew
Remove ynew Configurations and Data
To remove ynew
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ynew
