In this tutorial we learn how to install yi on Ubuntu.
What is yi
yi is:
Yi is a text editor written in Haskell and extensible in Haskell. The goal of the Yi project is to provide a flexible, powerful, and correct editor for haskell hacking.
This package comes pre-configured with the default configuration. If you want to build your custom-configured version, make sure that libghc-yi-core-dev is installed and put your configuration in ~/.config/yi/yi.hs
There are three methods to install yi on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install yi Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install yi using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install yi

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install yi using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install yi
Install yi Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
