In this tutorial we learn how to install yggdrasil
on Ubuntu.
What is yggdrasil
yggdrasil is:
Yggdrasil is an early-stage implementation of a fully end-to-end encrypted IPv6 network. It is lightweight, self-arranging, supported on multiple platforms and allows pretty much any IPv6-capable application to communicate securely with other Yggdrasil nodes. Yggdrasil does not require you to have IPv6 Internet connectivity - it also works over IPv4.
This package contains the executables.
There are three methods to install yggdrasil
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install yggdrasil Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install yggdrasil
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install yggdrasil
Install yggdrasil Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install yggdrasil
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install yggdrasil
Install yggdrasil Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install yggdrasil
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install yggdrasil
How To Uninstall yggdrasil on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the yggdrasil
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove yggdrasil
Uninstall yggdrasil And Its Dependencies
To uninstall yggdrasil
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove yggdrasil
Remove yggdrasil Configurations and Data
To remove yggdrasil
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge yggdrasil
Remove yggdrasil configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove yggdrasil
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge yggdrasil
