In this tutorial we learn how to install yaz-doc on Ubuntu.
What is yaz-doc
yaz-doc is:
YAZ is a toolkit for the development of client and server software built around the ANSI Z39.50 (ISO 23950) standard for information retrieval.
YAZ supports Z39.50-2003 (version 3), SRU versions 1.1 to 2.0, and the industry standard ZOOM API for Z39.50.
This package provides HTML documentation for YAZ.
There are three methods to install yaz-doc on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install yaz-doc Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install yaz-doc using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install yaz-doc
Install yaz-doc Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install yaz-doc using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install yaz-doc
Install yaz-doc Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install yaz-doc using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install yaz-doc
How To Uninstall yaz-doc on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the yaz-doc package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove yaz-doc
Uninstall yaz-doc And Its Dependencies
To uninstall yaz-doc and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove yaz-doc
Remove yaz-doc Configurations and Data
To remove yaz-doc configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge yaz-doc
