In this tutorial we learn how to install yara-doc
on Ubuntu.
What is yara-doc
yara-doc is:
YARA is a tool aimed at helping malware researchers to identify and classify malware samples. With YARA, it is possible to create descriptions of malware families based on textual or binary patterns contained in samples of those families. Each description consists of a set of strings and a Boolean expression which determines its logic.
Complex and powerful rules can be created by using binary strings with wild-cards, case-insensitive text strings, special operators, regular expressions and many other features.

There are three methods to install yara-doc
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install yara-doc Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install yara-doc
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install yara-doc
Install yara-doc Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install yara-doc
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install yara-doc
Install yara-doc Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install yara-doc
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install yara-doc
How To Uninstall yara-doc on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the yara-doc
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove yara-doc
Uninstall yara-doc And Its Dependencies
To uninstall yara-doc
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove yara-doc
Remove yara-doc Configurations and Data
To remove yara-doc
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge yara-doc
Remove yara-doc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove yara-doc
