on Ubuntu.
What is xyscan
xyscan is:
xyscan is a tool for the scientist in the need to extract data points, i.e. numeric values, from a plot. It allows you to scan the plots and extract data points including the size of the error bars (both in x and y). It can handle plots with linear and logarithmic scales. In fact xyscan can be used for extracting numeric values from any kind of 2D technical drawings.
There are three methods to install xyscan
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xyscan Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install xyscan
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install xyscan
Install xyscan Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install xyscan
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install xyscan
Install xyscan Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install xyscan
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install xyscan
How To Uninstall xyscan on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the xyscan
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove xyscan
Uninstall xyscan And Its Dependencies
To uninstall xyscan
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove xyscan
Remove xyscan Configurations and Data
To remove xyscan
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge xyscan
