In this tutorial we learn how to install xutils
on Ubuntu.
What is xutils
xutils is:
xutils provides a set of utility programs shipped with the X Window System. Many of these programs are useful even on a system that does not have any X clients or X servers installed.
This package is provided for transition from earlier Debian releases, the programs formerly in xutils and xbase-clients having been split out in smaller packages.
There are three methods to install xutils
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xutils Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install xutils
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install xutils

After updating apt database, We can install xutils

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude

How To Uninstall xutils on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the xutils
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove xutils

sudo apt-get -y autoremove xutils
Remove xutils Configurations and Data
To remove xutils
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge xutils
