on Ubuntu.
What is xserver-xspice
xserver-xspice is:
Xspice is an X server and Spice server in one. It consists of a wrapper script for executing Xorg with the right parameters and environment variables, a module names spiceqxl_drv.so implementing three drivers: a video mostly identical code to the guest qxl X driver, and keyboard and mouse reading from the spice inputs channel.
Xspice allows regular X connections, while a spice client provides the keyboard and mouse and video output.
There are three methods to install xserver-xspice
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xserver-xspice Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install xserver-xspice
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install xserver-xspice
Install xserver-xspice Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install xserver-xspice
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install xserver-xspice
Install xserver-xspice Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install xserver-xspice
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install xserver-xspice
How To Uninstall xserver-xspice on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the xserver-xspice
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove xserver-xspice
Uninstall xserver-xspice And Its Dependencies
To uninstall xserver-xspice
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove xserver-xspice
Remove xserver-xspice Configurations and Data
To remove xserver-xspice
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge xserver-xspice
Remove xserver-xspice configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove xserver-xspice
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge xserver-xspice
