xserver-xorg-core is:
The Xorg X server is an X server for several architectures and operating systems, which is derived from the XFree86 4.x series of X servers.
The Xorg server supports most modern graphics hardware from most vendors, and supersedes all XFree86 X servers.

This package is built from the X.org xserver module.
There are three methods to install xserver-xorg-core
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xserver-xorg-core Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install xserver-xorg-core
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install xserver-xorg-core
Install xserver-xorg-core Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install xserver-xorg-core
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install xserver-xorg-core
Install xserver-xorg-core Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install xserver-xorg-core
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install xserver-xorg-core
How To Uninstall xserver-xorg-core on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the xserver-xorg-core
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove xserver-xorg-core
Uninstall xserver-xorg-core And Its Dependencies
To uninstall xserver-xorg-core
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove xserver-xorg-core
Remove xserver-xorg-core Configurations and Data
To remove xserver-xorg-core
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge xserver-xorg-core
Remove xserver-xorg-core configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove xserver-xorg-core
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge xserver-xorg-core
