Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install xsane-common on Ubuntu.
What is xsane-common
xsane-common is:
xsane can be run as a stand-alone program or through the GIMP image manipulation program. In stand-alone mode, xsane can save an image to a file in a variety of image formats, serve as a frontend to a fax program, or send an image to a printer.
This package contains architecture-independent files needed by xsane (locales, help).
There are three methods to install xsane-common on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xsane-common Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install xsane-common using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install xsane-common

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install xsane-common using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install xsane-common
Install xsane-common Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install xsane-common using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install xsane-common
