In this tutorial we learn how to install xmlrpc-api-utils
on Ubuntu.
What is xmlrpc-api-utils
xmlrpc-api-utils is:
XML-RPC is a quick-and-easy way to make procedure calls over the Internet. It converts the procedure call into an XML document, sends it to a remote server using HTTP, and gets back the response as XML.
This package contains two programs:
- xml-rpc-api2cpp, a utility for generating C++ wrapper classes based on an XML-RPC API, obtained by interrogating an XML-RPC server.
- xml-rpc-api2txt, a utility for printing out an XML-RPC API as a text file. The API is obtained by interrogating an XML-RPC server.
There are three methods to install xmlrpc-api-utils
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xmlrpc-api-utils Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install xmlrpc-api-utils
using apt-get

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install xmlrpc-api-utils
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install xmlrpc-api-utils
How To Uninstall xmlrpc-api-utils on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the xmlrpc-api-utils
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove xmlrpc-api-utils

To uninstall xmlrpc-api-utils
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove xmlrpc-api-utils

To remove xmlrpc-api-utils
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge xmlrpc-api-utils
Remove xmlrpc-api-utils configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove xmlrpc-api-utils

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge xmlrpc-api-utils
