on Ubuntu.
What is xfonts-tipa
xfonts-tipa is:
TIPA is a system for processing IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) symbols in LaTeX written by Fukui Rei. TIPA stands for either TeX IPA or Tokyo IPA and derived from the tsipa package, made in 1992 by Kobayashi Hajime, Fukui Rei and Shirakawa Shun.
This package contains type 1 version of the TIPA fonts for the X Window system. It contains the pfb and afm files. The installed X font has the silipa encoding (see http://www.sil.org/computing/fonts/encore-ipa.html).
There are three methods to install xfonts-tipa
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xfonts-tipa Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install xfonts-tipa
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install xfonts-tipa

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install xfonts-tipa
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install xfonts-tipa

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install xfonts-tipa
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install xfonts-tipa
How To Uninstall xfonts-tipa on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the xfonts-tipa
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove xfonts-tipa
Uninstall xfonts-tipa And Its Dependencies
To uninstall xfonts-tipa
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove xfonts-tipa
Remove xfonts-tipa Configurations and Data
To remove xfonts-tipa
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge xfonts-tipa

We can use the following command to remove xfonts-tipa
