Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install xfonts-efont-unicode on Ubuntu.
What is xfonts-efont-unicode
xfonts-efont-unicode is:
/efont/ is an X BDF font package for 10, 12, 14, 16, and 24 pixels which are encoded in Unicode. Though they are still under development, they contain various scripts including Latin, IPA, Greek, Cyrillic, Armenian, Hebrew, Devanagari, Thai, Lao, Georgian, Runic, Hiragana, Katakana, Hangul Syllables, and part of Arabic, Bopomofo, CJK Ideogram, and various symbols.
This package contains normal (non-italic, medium) fonts only. xfonts-efont-unicode-ib package is available for italic and bold fonts.
There are three methods to install xfonts-efont-unicode on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xfonts-efont-unicode Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install xfonts-efont-unicode using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install xfonts-efont-unicode
Install xfonts-efont-unicode Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install xfonts-efont-unicode using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install xfonts-efont-unicode
Install xfonts-efont-unicode Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install xfonts-efont-unicode using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install xfonts-efont-unicode
How To Uninstall xfonts-efont-unicode on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the xfonts-efont-unicode package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove xfonts-efont-unicode
Uninstall xfonts-efont-unicode And Its Dependencies
To uninstall xfonts-efont-unicode and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove xfonts-efont-unicode
Remove xfonts-efont-unicode Configurations and Data
To remove xfonts-efont-unicode configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge xfonts-efont-unicode
Remove xfonts-efont-unicode configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove xfonts-efont-unicode configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge xfonts-efont-unicode
