In this tutorial we learn how to install xfonts-efont-unicode-ib
on Ubuntu.
What is xfonts-efont-unicode-ib
xfonts-efont-unicode-ib is:
/efont/ is an X BDF font package for 10, 12, 14, 16, and 24 pixels which are encoded in Unicode. Though they are still under development, they contain various scripts including Latin, IPA, Greek, Cyrillic, Armenian, Hebrew, Devanagari, Thai, Lao, Georgian, Runic, Hiragana, Katakana, Hangul Syllables, and part of Arabic, Bopomofo, CJK Ideogram, and various symbols.
This package contains italic, bold, and italic-bold fonts. You may want to install xfonts-efont-unicode package for non-itallic medium fonts.
There are three methods to install xfonts-efont-unicode-ib
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xfonts-efont-unicode-ib Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install xfonts-efont-unicode-ib
using apt-get

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude

After updating apt database, We can install xfonts-efont-unicode-ib

To remove xfonts-efont-unicode-ib
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge xfonts-efont-unicode-ib
Remove xfonts-efont-unicode-ib configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove xfonts-efont-unicode-ib
