In this tutorial we learn how to install xfce4-goodies on Ubuntu.

What is xfce4-goodies

xfce4-goodies is:

The “Goodies for Xfce” project includes additional software and artwork that are related to the Xfce desktop, but not part of the official release.

This package will install the following Xfce4 related plugins:

• Extra artwork (xfce4-artwork)
• Battery levels monitor (xfce4-battery-plugin)
• Clipboard history (xfce4-clipman-plugin)

There are three methods to install xfce4-goodies on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install xfce4-goodies Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install xfce4-goodies using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install xfce4-goodies

Install xfce4-goodies Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install xfce4-goodies using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install xfce4-goodies

Install xfce4-goodies Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install xfce4-goodies using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install xfce4-goodies

How To Uninstall xfce4-goodies on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the xfce4-goodies package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove xfce4-goodies

Uninstall xfce4-goodies And Its Dependencies

To uninstall xfce4-goodies and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove xfce4-goodies

Remove xfce4-goodies Configurations and Data

To remove xfce4-goodies configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge xfce4-goodies

Remove xfce4-goodies configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove xfce4-goodies configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge xfce4-goodies
