Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install xfce4-clipman on Ubuntu.

What is `xfce4-clipman`

xfce4-clipman is:

Clipman enables you to store and recall X selections, as well as GTK+ clipboard content. You can also define actions to be triggered by selecting some text pattern.

This package uses Xfce libraries but can be used without the Xfce panel and only requires a system tray (notification area).

There are three methods to install xfce4-clipman on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude -y install xfce4-clipman
