Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install xdx
on Ubuntu.
What is xdx
xdx is:
Xdx is a client to connect to a DX-cluster. Dx messages will be displayed in a list, announcements will go to a text display.
As well as the usual functions, if you have hamlib installed it can control the radio and set the frequency simply by double clicking a DX-spot (using rigctl).
There are three methods to install xdx
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xdx Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install xdx
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install xdx

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install xdx
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install xdx
Install xdx Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude

After updating apt database, We can install xdx

How To Uninstall xdx on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the xdx
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove xdx

sudo apt-get -y autoremove xdx
Remove xdx Configurations and Data
To remove xdx
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
