This project was started to fulfill the need of a reliable implementations of such standards in the AppImage project. It is totally standalone and only depends on the standard c++ library (stdlib).
It has been split in different modules according to the Free Desktop Standards, the current implemented ones are: - Desktop Entry 1.2 (mostly complete) - Base Dir 0.7 (draft)
There are three methods to install xdg-utils-cxx
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xdg-utils-cxx Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install xdg-utils-cxx
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install xdg-utils-cxx
Install xdg-utils-cxx Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install xdg-utils-cxx
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install xdg-utils-cxx
Install xdg-utils-cxx Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install xdg-utils-cxx
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install xdg-utils-cxx
How To Uninstall xdg-utils-cxx on Ubuntu

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge xdg-utils-cxx
