on Ubuntu.
What is xbindkeys
xbindkeys is:
xbindkeys is a program that allows you to launch shell commands with your keyboard or your mouse under the X Window System. It links commands to keys or mouse buttons, using a configuration file. It’s independent of the window manager and can capture all keyboard keys (ex: Power, Wake…).
It optionally supports a guile-based configuration file layout, which enables you to access all xbindkeys internals, so you can have key combinations, double clicks or timed double clicks take actions. Also all functions that work in guile will work for xbindkeys.
There are three methods to install xbindkeys
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xbindkeys Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install xbindkeys
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install xbindkeys

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude

using aptitude
by running the following command:

How To Uninstall xbindkeys on Ubuntu

package we can use the following command:

and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
