Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install xaos on Ubuntu.
What is xaos
xaos is:
XaoS allows you to zoom and pan around a fractal in real time. It can display the animated fractals in graphical or even plain text mode.
It displays the Mandelbrot set or many other fractals and allows you to zoom smoothly into the fractal. Various coloring modes are provided for both the points inside and outside the selected set. In addition, switching between Mandelbrot and Julia fractal types is provided.
Other features include autopilot mode, palette changing, image saving, fractal inversion, filters, and a built in fractal tutorial.
There are three methods to install xaos on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xaos Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install xaos using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install xaos
Install xaos Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install xaos using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install xaos
Install xaos Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install xaos using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install xaos
How To Uninstall xaos on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the xaos package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove xaos
Uninstall xaos And Its Dependencies
To uninstall xaos and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove xaos
Remove xaos Configurations and Data
To remove xaos configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge xaos
