In this tutorial we learn how to install x2goserver-x2goagent
on Ubuntu.
What is x2goserver-x2goagent
x2goserver-x2goagent is:
X2Go is a software suite that uses NX technology for remote desktop computing.
NX technology implements a very efficient compression of the X11 protocol. This increases performance when using X applications over a network, especially a slow one.
X2Go Agent functionality has been completely incorporated into NX agent’s code base. If the nxagent binary is executed under the name of `x2goagent’, the X2Go functionalities get activated.
This package is a wrapper that activates X2Go branding in nxagent. Please refer to the nxagent package’s description for more information on NX.
There are three methods to install x2goserver-x2goagent
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install x2goserver-x2goagent Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install x2goserver-x2goagent
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install x2goserver-x2goagent
Install x2goserver-x2goagent Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install x2goserver-x2goagent
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install x2goserver-x2goagent
Install x2goserver-x2goagent Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install x2goserver-x2goagent
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install x2goserver-x2goagent
How To Uninstall x2goserver-x2goagent on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the x2goserver-x2goagent
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove x2goserver-x2goagent
Uninstall x2goserver-x2goagent And Its Dependencies
To uninstall x2goserver-x2goagent
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove x2goserver-x2goagent

To remove x2goserver-x2goagent
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge x2goserver-x2goagent
Remove x2goserver-x2goagent configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove x2goserver-x2goagent

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge x2goserver-x2goagent
