In this tutorial we learn how to install workrave on Ubuntu.

What is `workrave`

workrave is:

Workrave is a program that assists in the recovery and prevention of Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI). The program frequently alerts you to take micro-pauses, rest breaks and restricts you to your daily limit.

It includes a system tray applet that works with GNOME and KDE and has network capabilities to monitor your activity even if switching back and forth between different computers is part of your job.

Workrave offers many more configuration options than other similar tools.

There are three methods to install workrave on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install workrave Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install workrave using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install workrave

To remove workrave configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge workrave
