In this tutorial we learn how to install wordnet-grind
on Ubuntu.
What is wordnet-grind
wordnet-grind is:
WordNet(C) is an on-line lexical reference system whose design is inspired by current psycholinguistic theories of human lexical memory. English nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs are organized into synonym sets, each representing one underlying lexical concept. Different relations link the synonym sets.
WordNet was developed by the Cognitive Science Laboratory at Princeton University under the direction of Professor George A. Miller (Principal Investigator).
This package contains the grind processor for WordNet lexicographer files. It can be used to process the lexicographer files from the Debian source tarball into a WordNet binary database file or other lexicographer filese provided by the user.
There are three methods to install wordnet-grind
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install wordnet-grind Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install wordnet-grind
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install wordnet-grind
Install wordnet-grind Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install wordnet-grind
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install wordnet-grind
Install wordnet-grind Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install wordnet-grind
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install wordnet-grind
How To Uninstall wordnet-grind on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the wordnet-grind
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove wordnet-grind
Uninstall wordnet-grind And Its Dependencies
To uninstall wordnet-grind
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove wordnet-grind
Remove wordnet-grind Configurations and Data
To remove wordnet-grind
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge wordnet-grind
Remove wordnet-grind configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove wordnet-grind
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge wordnet-grind
