on Ubuntu.
What is wofi
wofi is:
wofi is an application launcher and menu program for wlroots based wayland compositors such as sway. It brings support for three built-in modes:
- drun - launch XDG Desktop files
- run - launch executables from $PATH
- dmenu - dmenu-compatabile mode to read lines from stdin
Wofi is easily themeable with the help of CSS style sheets.
There are three methods to install wofi
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install wofi Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install wofi
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install wofi

Update apt database with apt

sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install wofi
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install wofi
Install wofi Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude

How To Uninstall wofi on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the wofi
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove wofi

and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove wofi
Remove wofi Configurations and Data
To remove wofi
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge wofi
