How To Install wmmon on Ubuntu

Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install wmmon on Ubuntu.
What is wmmon
wmmon is:
WMMon monitors the realtime CPU load as well as the average system load, and gives you some nice additional features too. It is intended for docking in Window Maker.
It currently provides:
- a realtime CPU stress meter;
- an auto-scaled average system load meter, like xload and wmavgload;
- a realtime disk I/O stress meter;
- auto-scaled disk I/O load meter;
- realtime memory and swap usage meters;
- a display for system uptime;
- three user-defined commands to launch.
There are three methods to install wmmon on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install wmmon Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install wmmon using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install wmmon
Install wmmon Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install wmmon using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install wmmon
Install wmmon Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install wmmon using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install wmmon
How To Uninstall wmmon on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the wmmon package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove wmmon
Uninstall wmmon And Its Dependencies
To uninstall wmmon and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove wmmon
Remove wmmon Configurations and Data
To remove wmmon configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge wmmon
Remove wmmon configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove wmmon configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge wmmon
