Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install wmcore
on Ubuntu.
What is wmcore
wmcore is:
The dockapp splits into two displays, the upper one showing the common usage of the system and the lower display showing one graph per each core.
It detects the number of cores and computes the usage to be represented as a bar graph. wmcore works with a variable number of cores. The display has been tested with 1 up to 16 (simulated) cores.
There are three methods to install wmcore
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install wmcore Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install wmcore
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install wmcore

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install wmcore
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install wmcore
Install wmcore Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude

sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install wmcore
using aptitude

sudo aptitude -y install wmcore
How To Uninstall wmcore on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the wmcore
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove wmcore
Uninstall wmcore And Its Dependencies
To uninstall wmcore
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove wmcore
Remove wmcore Configurations and Data
To remove wmcore
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge wmcore

We can use the following command to remove wmcore
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge wmcore
