In this tutorial we learn how to install wmaker-common
on Ubuntu.
What is wmaker-common
wmaker-common is:
Written by Alfredo Kojima almost from scratch, resembles the NeXTStep look very closely, and it is now an official GNU project. Window Maker (originally named WindowMaker) is not overloaded with features, and it is easier to configure than most other window managers. Its final goal is to produce a window manager that doesn’t require editing of configuration files. Window Maker is fast and doesn’t require tons of memory to run.
This package contains the architecture independent files.
There are three methods to install wmaker-common
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install wmaker-common Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install wmaker-common
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install wmaker-common

using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install wmaker-common
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install wmaker-common

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude

using aptitude
