on Ubuntu.
What is wireplumber
wireplumber is:
WirePlumber is a modular session / policy manager for PipeWire and a GObject-based high-level library that wraps PipeWire’s API, providing convenience for writing the daemon’s modules as well as external tools for managing PipeWire.
This package contains the WirePlumber daemon and command-line utilities.
There are three methods to install wireplumber
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install wireplumber Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install wireplumber
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install wireplumber

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install wireplumber
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install wireplumber
Install wireplumber Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install wireplumber
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install wireplumber
How To Uninstall wireplumber on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the wireplumber
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove wireplumber

To uninstall wireplumber
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove wireplumber
Remove wireplumber Configurations and Data
To remove wireplumber
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge wireplumber
