Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install weka on Ubuntu.
What is weka
weka is:
Weka is a collection of machine learning algorithms in Java that can either be used from the command-line, or called from your own Java code. Weka is also ideally suited for developing new machine learning schemes.
Implemented schemes cover decision tree inducers, rule learners, model tree generators, support vector machines, locally weighted regression, instance-based learning, bagging, boosting, and stacking. Also included are clustering methods, and an association rule learner. Apart from actual learning schemes, Weka also contains a large variety of tools that can be used for pre-processing datasets.
This package contains the binaries and examples.
There are three methods to install weka on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install weka Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install weka using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install weka
Install weka Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install weka using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install weka
Install weka Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install weka using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install weka
How To Uninstall weka on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the weka package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove weka
Uninstall weka And Its Dependencies
To uninstall weka and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove weka
Remove weka Configurations and Data
To remove weka configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge weka
Remove weka configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
