on Ubuntu.
What is weechat
weechat is:
WeeChat (Wee Enhanced Environment for Chat) is a fast and light chat client for many operating systems. Everything can be done with a keyboard. It is customizable and extensible with plugins/scripts, and includes:

There are three methods to install weechat
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install weechat Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install weechat
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install weechat

Update apt database with apt

sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install weechat
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install weechat
Install weechat Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude

After updating apt database, We can install weechat

sudo aptitude -y install weechat
How To Uninstall weechat on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the weechat
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove weechat
Uninstall weechat And Its Dependencies
To uninstall weechat
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove weechat
Remove weechat Configurations and Data
To remove weechat
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge weechat

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge weechat
