In this tutorial we learn how to install weechat-matrix on Ubuntu.

What is `weechat-matrix`

weechat-matrix is:

A Python plugin for Weechat that allows weechat to communicate over the Matrix protocol. Currently supports large parts of the Matrix protocol, but end-to-end encryption is still experimental.

After updating apt database, We can install weechat-matrix using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install weechat-matrix

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install weechat-matrix using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install weechat-matrix

Install weechat-matrix Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install weechat-matrix using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install weechat-matrix

How To Uninstall weechat-matrix on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the weechat-matrix package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove weechat-matrix

To uninstall weechat-matrix and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
