Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install weather-util
on Ubuntu.
What is weather-util
weather-util is:
This utility is intended to provide quick access to current weather conditions and forecasts. Presently, it is capable of providing data for localities throughout the United States of America and some select locations globally by retrieving and processing METAR data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and forecasts from the National Weather Service.
The weather-util-data package is recommended to enable searches for nearby sources of weather data–otherwise you have to look up and build configuration for all the data source URIs yourself.
There are three methods to install weather-util
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install weather-util Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install weather-util
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install weather-util
Install weather-util Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install weather-util
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install weather-util
Install weather-util Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install weather-util
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install weather-util
How To Uninstall weather-util on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the weather-util
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove weather-util
Uninstall weather-util And Its Dependencies
To uninstall weather-util
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove weather-util
Remove weather-util Configurations and Data
To remove weather-util
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge weather-util
Remove weather-util configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove weather-util
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge weather-util
