Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install wadc on Ubuntu.
What is wadc
wadc is:
WadC (Wad Compiler) is an Integrated Development Environment and functional programming language for developing Doom-engine maps. It can be used to generate complex levels which can be saved in Doom’s WAD format.
The IDE includes a text-editor component; a debug output pane and a 2D drawing pane which previews the current script’s output. Also included is an experimental command line interface, wadccli.
An external nodes builder (such as glbsp) is required before the resulting WAD file can be played by a doom-engine.
There are three methods to install wadc on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install wadc Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install wadc using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install wadc
Install wadc Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install wadc using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install wadc
Install wadc Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install wadc using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install wadc
How To Uninstall wadc on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the wadc package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove wadc
Uninstall wadc And Its Dependencies
To uninstall wadc and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove wadc
Remove wadc Configurations and Data
To remove wadc configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge wadc
Remove wadc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove wadc configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge wadc
