on Ubuntu.
What is vtwm
vtwm is:
VTWM is an enhanced version of the Tab window manager (TWM) that adds many features – primarily a virtual desktop, meaning that what is currently on screen is just a portion of a larger workspace. What portion of the virtual desktop that is displayed, and whatever windows might be visible within it, are simple point-and-click operations within a scaled representation of the workspace.
There are three methods to install vtwm
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install vtwm Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install vtwm
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install vtwm
Install vtwm Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install vtwm
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install vtwm
Install vtwm Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install vtwm
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install vtwm
How To Uninstall vtwm on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the vtwm
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove vtwm
Uninstall vtwm And Its Dependencies
To uninstall vtwm
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove vtwm
Remove vtwm Configurations and Data
To remove vtwm
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge vtwm
Remove vtwm configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove vtwm
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge vtwm
