What is voms-clients
voms-clients is:
The Virtual Organization Membership Service (VOMS) is an attribute authority which serves as central repository for VO user authorization information, providing support for sorting users into group hierarchies, keeping track of their roles and other attributes in order to issue trusted attribute certificates and SAML assertions used in the Grid environment for authorization purposes.
This package provides command line applications to access the VOMS services.
There are three methods to install voms-clients on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install voms-clients Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install voms-clients using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install voms-clients
Install voms-clients Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install voms-clients using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install voms-clients
Install voms-clients Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install voms-clients using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install voms-clients
