on Ubuntu.
What is vmware-nsx-common
vmware-nsx-common is:
Neutron provides an API to dynamically request and configure virtual networks. These networks connect “interfaces” from other OpenStack services (such as vNICs from Nova VMs). The Neutron API supports extensions to provide advanced network capabilities, including QoS, ACLs, and network monitoring.
This package provides the config files for the VMWare NSX plugin.
There are three methods to install vmware-nsx-common
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install vmware-nsx-common Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install vmware-nsx-common
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install vmware-nsx-common
Install vmware-nsx-common Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install vmware-nsx-common
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install vmware-nsx-common
Install vmware-nsx-common Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install vmware-nsx-common
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install vmware-nsx-common
How To Uninstall vmware-nsx-common on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the vmware-nsx-common
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove vmware-nsx-common
Uninstall vmware-nsx-common And Its Dependencies
To uninstall vmware-nsx-common
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove vmware-nsx-common
Remove vmware-nsx-common Configurations and Data
To remove vmware-nsx-common
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge vmware-nsx-common
Remove vmware-nsx-common configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove vmware-nsx-common

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge vmware-nsx-common
