What is unity-control-center
unity-control-center is:
This package contains configuration applets for the GNOME desktop, allowing to set accessibility configuration, desktop fonts, keyboard and mouse properties, sound setup, desktop theme and background, user interface properties, screen resolution, and other GNOME parameters.
It also contains a front end to these applets, which can also be accessed with the GNOME panel or the Nautilus file manager.
There are three methods to install unity-control-center
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install unity-control-center Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install unity-control-center
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install unity-control-center

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install unity-control-center
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install unity-control-center
Install unity-control-center Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install unity-control-center
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install unity-control-center
How To Uninstall unity-control-center on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the unity-control-center
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove unity-control-center
Uninstall unity-control-center And Its Dependencies
To uninstall unity-control-center
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove unity-control-center
Remove unity-control-center Configurations and Data
To remove unity-control-center
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge unity-control-center
Remove unity-control-center configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove unity-control-center
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge unity-control-center
