Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install unbound-anchor on Ubuntu.
What is unbound-anchor
unbound-anchor is:
unbound-anchor is a utility which securely fetches or updates the root DNS zone trust anchor. A copy of the current root anchor and root update certificate is embedded in unbound-anchor. RFC 5011 trust anchor tracking is performed, with fallback to an SSL fetch if this fails.
There are three methods to install unbound-anchor on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install unbound-anchor Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install unbound-anchor using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install unbound-anchor
Install unbound-anchor Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install unbound-anchor using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install unbound-anchor
Install unbound-anchor Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install unbound-anchor using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install unbound-anchor
How To Uninstall unbound-anchor on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the unbound-anchor package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove unbound-anchor
Uninstall unbound-anchor And Its Dependencies
To uninstall unbound-anchor and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove unbound-anchor
Remove unbound-anchor Configurations and Data
To remove unbound-anchor configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge unbound-anchor
Remove unbound-anchor configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove unbound-anchor configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
